What is an example of a single displacement chemical reaction as a balanced equation?

OpenStudy (waheguru):

Single Displacement reaction is when there is an element and a compound in the reactants and in the product the element switches with one of the elements in the compound ex AB + C = AC+B

OpenStudy (anonymous):

But could you explain using the elements because I've never done this before please?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

For example...2K (s) + CuSO4 (aq) ---> K2SO4 (aq) + Cu (s)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So this means 2 potassium + copper sulfuroxide which changes to potassium sulfuroxide +copper. Is this correct?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

2 potassium metal + copper sulfate ---> potassium sulfate + copper metal

Thank you. The s in parenthsis symbolizes that that something is a metal?

OpenStudy (anonymous):
