OpenStudy (nottim):

An 82 Kg pilot is flying a stunt airplane pulls out of a dive at a constant speed of 540 km/h. What force is applied on the pilot by the plane seat at the lowest point in the pullout?

OpenStudy (nottim):

Minimum radius is 3.3*10^2m. The answer is 6.4*10^3 N.

OpenStudy (nottim):

My initial answer was 5590.909090...N.

So what is the formula for centripetal force?

OpenStudy (nottim):

Fc=mv^2/r

OpenStudy (anonymous):

And since he is at the bottom of the circle, the centripetal force is in the same direction as the force of gravity. So they are both just added, right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So \(\Large F_{net} = m\frac{v^2}{r}+ma_{gravity}\) We have \(m, v, r, a_{gravity}\) right? So does this get you the correct answer?

OpenStudy (nottim):

lemme try this one out first. thx for the help and immediate response

OpenStudy (nottim):

is gravity suppose to be negative?
