What do you think the first step is here?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
i have to put 1g+4-3g=1+1g
OpenStudy (cgreenwade2000):
ok.
And then what?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
_3g buy 1g
OpenStudy (cgreenwade2000):
Ok.

noo im mean add
OpenStudy (cgreenwade2000):
Well, here 1g+4-3g=1+1g
You want to combine all like terms that are on the same side.
So since we have 1g-3g on the left.... we will do that first.
OpenStudy (anonymous):
so it 2
OpenStudy (anonymous):
wait dont you need to add 3 by 1
OpenStudy (cgreenwade2000):
Stop! And focus on the left side of the equation
1g+4 -3g
That says subtract 3g not add it.

OpenStudy (cgreenwade2000):
So when we combine it,
it goes 1g-3g or 1-3=-2g
OpenStudy (anonymous):
oh ok
OpenStudy (anonymous):
but i still dont know what to do
OpenStudy (cgreenwade2000):
SO rewrite your problem:
-2g+4 = 1+g
Where do you go from there next?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
oh okk damn man you reall smart thank you so much

If you practice your algebra it will take you seconds instead of minutes.
OpenStudy (anonymous):
lol ok but dont i need to put a 1+1g
OpenStudy (cgreenwade2000):
Multiplying g times 1 and saying 1g is okay if it helps you to visualize.
But most of the time we would just say that since there is no coefficient (number being multiplied by a variable) then there is just a 1 there.
For example:
10=1times10
8=1times8
x=1x
y=1y
OpenStudy (anonymous):
oh okk so it -2g+4=1+g now i have to damn i dont know what to do next
OpenStudy (cgreenwade2000):
You need to get the g terms on one side of the equal sign and the constant terms on the other side.

ohi hav to -4 by 1
OpenStudy (cgreenwade2000):
I'd start with the g terms here.
OpenStudy (anonymous):
oh add 2 by 1g
OpenStudy (cgreenwade2000):
2g* yes.
Then move the 1 to the other side with the 4.
OpenStudy (anonymous):
so now we have 4=1+3

Go one step at a time from here. Show me each step -2g+4=1+1g
OpenStudy (cgreenwade2000):
REWRITE the equation after each step
OpenStudy (anonymous):
okk so now you to add 2 by 1
OpenStudy (anonymous):
you busy
OpenStudy (cgreenwade2000):
REWRITE the equation after each step

Stop giving me the steps and write out the equation after you do the step.
OpenStudy (anonymous):
ok -2g+4=1+1g
OpenStudy (cgreenwade2000):
Start from here. Do the step. Then write out the new equation after you have done the step
-2g+4=1+1g
OpenStudy (cgreenwade2000):
Ok. Go from there.
OpenStudy (anonymous):
ok add 2g by 1g

WRITE OUT THE EQUATION AFTER YOU DO THE STEP!
OpenStudy (anonymous):
i did
OpenStudy (cgreenwade2000):
I understand you keep said add 2g by 1g. But show me what you get after you have done it.
OpenStudy (anonymous):
oh 4=1+3
OpenStudy (cgreenwade2000):
>_>
-2g+4=1+1g
Add 2g on both sides*
4=1+3g <------ 3G not just 3.

Continue with your next step from there.
OpenStudy (anonymous):
-1 by 4
OpenStudy (cgreenwade2000):
DO THE STEP!
OpenStudy (cgreenwade2000):
I keep saying write out the equation. I'm doing it so I can see where you are making mistakes.
OpenStudy (anonymous):
so the answer is 1

Yes.
OpenStudy (anonymous):
so like when the answer is 2.4it no solution
OpenStudy (cgreenwade2000):
No. Not at all
Once again! Write out the equation!
OpenStudy (cgreenwade2000):
I will show you how it works when you write out the equation.
OpenStudy (anonymous):
8-(3+b)=1b-9
