Yes, I agree. :) The hydrogen bond is a non-covalent bond - it does not involve sharing an electron between the bonding atoms. So it is a weaker than a covalent bond. If the strands were covalently bonded, they would be too close together to fit all the atoms in. And the energy needed to break all those bonds would be so much that it would be impossible to unzip the strands during DNA replication and transcription.
