Which of the following bond(s) is/are polar covalent? Si and P C and N Ca and Br Na and O

OpenStudy (anonymous):

All of them are polar covalent

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Silicon-Phosphorus, Na-O, and and Ca-Br are ionic, @Sheng

OpenStudy (anonymous):

C and N has to be polar covalent. Both atoms are strongly electronegative, but N is only slightly more so, resulting in a slight negative charge towards N.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh sorry only saw the polar part, Si-P and C-N are polar covalent

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Is silicon not a metal? I thought metal-nonmetal bonds are all ionic...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i thought only metals and nonmetals are polar

OpenStudy (anonymous):

silicon is a metalloid

OpenStudy (anonymous):

polar is anything that has an electronegativity difference

OpenStudy (anonymous):

doesnt matter if it's metal or non-metal, that's only generally speaking
