Why does the pressure inside a balloon increase when it is inflated?
because pressure in the balloon is greater than the pressure outside the balloon... not sure if i quite understand your question... could you elaborate?
I think peedmoore is asking about adding moles of gas to the ballon.
In fact it is reverse ,when pressure is applied inside the balloon starts to inflate ,because in side pressure becomes more than atmospheric pressure.
I would view this question as an independent system ignoring the outside system. From this perspective you are adding moles of air to the closed balloon system. From PV=nRT, with n being moles, the pressure increases at first which causes an expansion of the balloon (increase in volume). This continues until the balloon's material cannot expand anymore, adding more moles of air from this point would only raise the pressure until the balloon explodes.
not sure, but it may also be due to decrease in area by inflation...
