explain how the concentration of electrons, protons, and neutrons result in the neutral charge of an atom

OpenStudy (anonymous):

There is an equal number of protons and electrons in an atom. The protons and nuetrons make up the nuclues of an atom. But it doesnt matter how many nuetrons they are becasue they have no charge, so they do not affect the charge of an atom. What affects the charge of an atom is the number of protons and electrons. There is always an eqaul number of protons and electrons, and since an electron has a negative charge and a proton has a postive charge they even each other out and so atoms have no charge.
