I'm confused on what they mean by "16's complement technique", I was only familar with ones and twos complements.
OpenStudy (anonymous):
But so far I know that 001001001 is 49 and 001000111 is 47 in hexadecimal.
OpenStudy (anonymous):
49 - 47 = ??? using 16's Complement
16's Complement of 47 = B9
1 1
4 9
+ B 9
-------------
1 0 2

How are you getting B9?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
by complementing 47
OpenStudy (anonymous):
47 = 01000111
take the 2,s complement of 01000111 that is 10111001
OpenStudy (anonymous):
10111001 = B9
OpenStudy (anonymous):
thus B9 is the 16 complement of 47

I'm not seeing where you are getting 10111001. 47 flipped is 10111000, so add that to one and get 10110111.

Oh wait nevermind, now I see it. I forgot to add all of the zeros in front of 1. Okay, now this makes sense. Thank you.
