I would think the reactions would just be combustion of each carbon compound ie. \[2C(s) / O _{2}(g) \rightarrow 2 CO (g)\] and \[2CO(g) + O _{2}(g) \rightarrow 2CO _{2}(g)\]

Carbon can exist as an ion 'carbocation' with a charge of 4+ not 1+ and carbon monoxide does not have a charge since it's not an ionic compound.
