an atom of the 131-Iodine isotope contains how many neutrons?

OpenStudy (aaronq):

find atomic number (which is how many protons the element has) on periodic table. subtract that from 131 which is the total number of neutron + protons.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

that would work except its an isotope of iodine. so you cant use that. :( idk how to do it.

OpenStudy (aaronq):

an isotope is variant of an element such that it has more or less neutrons.. so if you have the atomic number which is 53 and you have I-131 .. the number of neutrons is 78

thanks :)

OpenStudy (aaronq):

no prob !
