Pure copper metal has a very high conductivity. Brass, an alloy of copper and zinc, has a much lower conductivity. Why are the conductivities different?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the introduction of zinc into copper causes conductivity to be disrupted due to the new molecular arrangement.

pure copper will have well defined and constant electronic configuration, but if we take the brass that contains mixture of elements so that there will little deviation in the configuration leads to low conductivity
