@YelenaChaiko: for any parallel or series RC ckt. time constant is given by (R*C) where R & C reprsnts Equivalent resistnc & capacitnance of given ckt/ so correct ans is 1) (R1+R2)*(C) 2)((R1*R2)/(R1+R2))* (C)

for the first part .. R1 & R2 are in series whereas for the second diagram R1 & R2 are parallel ..
