First write out the balanced equation (use solubility rules to help you predict phases): 2AgNO3 (aq) + Ba(OH)2 (aq) --> 2AgOH (s) + Ba(NO3)2 (aq) now write all (aq) as ions as they are deionzed in solution: 2Ag+ (aq) + 2NO3- (aq) + Ba2+ (aq) + 2OH- (aq) --> 2AgOH (s) + Ba2+ (aq) + 2NO3- (aq) finally crossout spectator ions (ions that appear on both sides): 2Ag+ (aq) + 2OH- (aq) --> 2AgOH (s)
