Are dipole-dipole forces stronger in acetone or octane?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

acetone is polar molecule but octane is non-polar.therefore there is no dipole -dipole force in octane

i meant dispersion.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

london dispersion forces would be stronger in octane due to the fact it's non-polar

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The dispersion forces in octane are greater, but that's because it has a higher polarizability, in this case, simply because it has more valence electrons.
