the force y measured in newton (N), required to stretch a particular spring x meters as given by y =100x make a table of values using x= 0, 0.5, 1.0 and 1.5 and write the information as ordered pairs, how do I explain the meaning of each ordered pair in the context of the problem?
and how do you make a graph for it?
the first number of the ordered pair or your x value is how many meters the spring is stretched while the second number of the ordered pair or the y value would be the amount of force required to stretch the spring x meters
As for graphing I have found that the technique can vary among teachers but since you are being asked to make a table of ordered pairs I would assume you would plot the points and then connect them with a line of best fit. Since these are not lab values but theoretical you line should go straight through all of the points
If the spring was pulled with a force of 80n how far does it stretch?
can you give me he equatin for that.
that is a different type of question. I will respond by asking you a question where does that 80 N force belong in your equation y = 100*x ?
80=100x
okay now solve for x and remember that x is the number of meters the spring is stretched.
i got .8
in one of my earlier post I said theoretical you line obviously that was a typo and I meant your line. 0.8 would be correct to me but if you are not sure you can always plug it in as an x value in that equation and see what y value it comes up with.
Thank You So Much! I now understand the problem because of your great assistance..
