isn't x = y???
nops..you'll have to bring it under its domain, the domain of cos^-1 x is [0,pi] the given domain is (pi,2pi) you need to convert that thing..
how??
wait is it 2pi - y??
you had'cos x = -1/3 now, pi<x<2pi => 0 < x -pi < pi now,, -cos x = 1/3 cos(pi- x) = cos(x-pi)=1/3 x-pi = cos^(1/3) note that you can use inverse here since angle is inside domain y= cos^-1 ( -1/3) y= pi - cos^-1 (1/3) y= pi- (x-pi) y = 2pi-x
