Why does a solution of acetic acid and water conduct electricity, even though acetic acid alone does not?

If you want a solution to conduct electricity, there must be ions in the solution that help carry and move the charge. Pure water doesn't conduct electricity, neither does a solution of sugar and water. Salt water does, and a solution of acetic acid in water does. What does that mean about acetic acid in water?
