how do you find net ionic equation from the equation that is given?

OpenStudy (jfraser):

if you've got the 2 compounds that are reacting in solution, swap the pairings:\[AB(aq) + CD(aq) \rightarrow AD(aq?) + CB(aq?)\] odds are, one of the new pairs will be insoluble, so it will be a (s) in the net ionic equation. We can ignore all the other ions and just write the combination of ions that gets us a precipitate (ppt).\[A^{+2}(aq) + 2D^{-1} \rightarrow AD_2(s)\] or \[A^{+2}(aq) + 2D^{-1} \rightarrow AD_2(s)\] whatever the charges of the ions are, put them together into a neutral compound
