I know this is a very easy question but, unfortunately i cant figure this out. So can someone help me with this problem.

OpenStudy (myname):

A uniform piece of sheet steel is shaped as in the figure below. (Both axes are marked in increments of 22). Compute the x and y coordinates of the center of mass of the piece.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

simple first the centre of upper 2 boxes is on the mid point of the midline similarly for the second then third then these pnts forn a triangle whose centroid is the required point if the solid is uniformly denser:)

OpenStudy (myname):

How do we mathematically calculate the x and y coordinate of the center of mass?

OpenStudy (myname):

Like by using this formula : (x)= m1*x 1+ m2*x2/m1+m2

OpenStudy (myname):

oh let me try

OpenStudy (myname):

i got the triangle

OpenStudy (myname):

Now, how do i get the x and y component of the whole system

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i think now you will get it and if u have the problem in centre of triangle then ask me again i will clearify you:)
