Find the constant of the variation and slope. Picture attached in comments.
@Hero @amistre64
what is the value of y at x=0? what is the value of y at x=1?
Y=0 Y=3
good, then the change from x=0 to x=1 is the slope; so y changes by +3 right?
the constant of variation IS slope i believe
um
pfft, i didnt even see the equation above it :) y = 3x slope = 3 constant of variation is y/x; y/x = 3
the formula to find this is y=kx, and k is the slope, os if y=3x the answer is 3
right? i don't know. i don't have y or x
3 is the slope yes
awesome:) i have one more question if you have time
i have a little time, trying to figure out a diffy Q with nonconstant coeffs; thinking of seeing if i can pull off a power series solution
what does it mean for variables to vary directly and indirectly? I can't find the definition in my math book
to vary directly means that when one of them gets bigger, the other one does too y = kx is a direct variation; as x gets bigger, so does y to vary indirectly means that as one gets bigger the other gets smaller y = k/x is an indirect variation; as x gets bigger, y gets smaller
thank you:) this helps a lot
