A 0.050g ball of aluminum foil absorbs 1.42 J heat when it is heated 31.6°C. What is the specific heat of aluminum foil?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

use the equation q=mct where q = energy (J), m = mass (g), c = specific heat constant, and t = temperature (Kelvins)

To follow up on M Sheng answer you would then have to determine what the mass of the aluminium represents in moles in order to answer in J k-1mol-1 (Joules per Kelvins per mole) Temperature can be in Celcius since in the q=mct it is actually the temperature difference (Tf-Ti) and changes in Celcius and Kelvin are equivalent. They only have different starting points.
