Find the X-intercept and Y-intercept (x-3)^2+(y+4)^2=25

hartnn (hartnn):

hint :to get x-intercept put y=0 in the equation to get y-intercept put x=0 in the equation

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ahhh.... Thank you.. That's all I needed to know.

hartnn (hartnn):

welcome ^_^

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok.. So... In this case both the X and Y intercept would be 0? I think that is correct... But just varifying.

hartnn (hartnn):

whaen u put y=0, u get (x-3)^2=3^2 yes, both intercepts are 0 here. but there are more than 1 intercepts to this curve.

hartnn (hartnn):

for example 2 x-intercepts are (0,0)and(6,0)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Hmmmmm.... I'm going to have to think about that for a minute.. I understand what you're saying though.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ohh. Ok.. So I looked up similar problems and I got what you're saying. So the X and Y intercepts for this problem would be (0,0) for x and (0,0) for y.

hartnn (hartnn):

i would rather write both the intercepts. x-intercepts are (0,0) and (6,0) y-intercepts are (0,0) and (0,-8)

hartnn (hartnn):

did u get how i found the other intercepts ?
