Use the de Broglie relationship to determine the wavelengths of an ozone ({\rm O_3}) molecule in the upper atmosphere moving at 570m/s

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Why is this difficult? You need to look up the mass of an ozone molecule, or calculate by multiplying the mass of an oxygen atom by 3, and then calculate the momentum from the mass and velocity, and then use the formula for de Broglie wavelength. Is it that you don't know what a de Broglie wavelength is? Or momentum? Or how to find the mass of an oxygen atom? Aside from those things, this is just punching numbers into a calculator.

ive never done chemistry before ive no clue what to do the molecule is O oxygen

The molecules is ozone, and you've been given its chemical formula (O3), so you know it consists of 3 oxygen atoms bonded together. Now you just need to look up the mass of 1 oxygen atom. You'll find that in the Periodic Table of Elements, the number under the symbol, and it is given in atomic mass units (amu or u), also called daltons (Da). You'll probably need to convert to grams.
