What experiment is best use to identify the characteristic of the cell membrane? Describe about the methods please...

A reseatch method to look opon the cell membrane is by using freeze-fracture. The application is that a cell membrane can be split intro its two laters, revealing the structure of the membrane's interior. It is done by a cell is frozen and fractured with a knife. The fractureplane often follows the hydrophobic interior of a membrane, splitting the phospholipid bilayer into two separated layers. Each membrane protein goes wholly with one of the layers. When using this method you can see on SEMs that membrane proteins (looking like bumps) in the two layers, demonstrating that proteins are embedded in the phospholipid bilayer.

What about to identify another characteristic of the cells? such as it's permeability of water or another material?

if you don't want to read it (which i fully understand) i just give you some subnotes from there experiment: Larry Frye and Michael Edidin at Johns Hopkins University, labeled the plasma membrane proteins of a mouse cell and human cell with two diffrent markers and fused the cells. Using a microscope, they observed the markers of the hybrid cell. The conflusion of the experiment was the mixing of the mouse and human membrane protein indicats that at least some membrane proteins move sideways within the plane of the plasma membrane.
