Factor each Polynomial. Show your work. Solve using Difference of Squares: A^2 - B^2 = (a -b) (a + b) Differences of Cubes: A^3 - B^3 = (A - b) (a^2 + ab + b^2) Sum of Cubes: A^3+ B^3 = (a + b) (a^2 - ab + b^2) 12. 5x^3 - y^3
I mean I have (5x - y) as a starting point; that's all I have so far
(5x-y)(25x^2+(-5xy)+y^2)
(25x^2+(-5xy)+y^2)
ijust plugh in 5 for my a and -1 for my b
so you got this: (5x -y) (5x^2 + (5xy) + y^2) to get: (25x^2+(-5xy)+y^2) <--- why is it + (-5xy)
sorry the 5x is the a okay the -5xy is cuyz yu havwe -1 x 5 so you get -5and the variables.
oh okay gotcha totally understand: How would (25x^2+(-5xy)+y^2) = 5x^3 - y^3
no the thing i sent yu first was the whole answer.
I know my bad how does this: (5x-y)(25x^2+(-5xy)+y^2) = 5x^3 - y^3
no yu dont need that equals. there is no equal to this problem
I know how does that answer give you 5x^3 - y^3 though
there is no answer well yu can write it oyut cuz it is the same thing.
why would it not be (5x -y) (x^2 +(-5xy) + y^2
becauise yu need the five.on the x^2 because yur A is 5x
okay
got it?
cause it doesn't look like it's right though
Is he right or wrong would you say???
I can't figure it out (5x-y)(25x^2+(-5xy)+y^2) 125x^3 - 25x^2y + 5xy^2 - 25x^2y + 5xy^2 - y^3 His answer is wrong. I can't fix it
do you know what it's suppose to be
I said it was (5x - y) (x^2 + (-5xy) + y^2)
I think I got it hold on
cause I think mine was correct, but was for sure
wasn't for sure
nvm. I don't think it can be factored. http://www.solvemymath.com/online_math_calculator/general_math/factoring_calculator/factoring.php This site couldn't factor it either
what would you think it would be???
I will ask somebody else alright
Call in @Hero
I have another problem that's confusing too
Double check and make sure you posted the problem correctly.
so how would you factor it? @Hero
You can only factor it if it is a difference of cubes. What you posted does not satisfy the requirements for the definition of difference of cubes.
so is there no answer
The correct answer is: Prime, Not factorable
okay thank you Hero. I have another problem that I don't get
