Determine Efficiency of wedge below. E= 370lbs T= 6" R= 3000lbs L= 5"

OpenStudy (smartbrain):

Can somebody help me???

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Can you define your variables please, or perhaps provide a labeled diagram?

OpenStudy (smartbrain):

Help plz

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm thinking this might be able to be solved using principles of levers (since all simple machines are either levers or combinations of levers), but I think there is a shortcut too.

OpenStudy (smartbrain):

Yes correct we are in 6 simple machines unit, I failed the exam and I have to re do the questions I got wrong for 1/2 point back

OpenStudy (smartbrain):

Do you know the formula for solving the problem

OpenStudy (smartbrain):

Can you speak English please

OpenStudy (anonymous):

In all cases, efficiency is \(\large Work_{out} \div Work_{in} = \frac{mechanical \space advantage}{distance \space ratio}\).

OpenStudy (smartbrain):

Thats better thanks

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Sorry, got the LaTeX code messed up.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Mechanical advantage is Load Force ÷ Effor Force.

OpenStudy (smartbrain):

Thanks

OpenStudy (anonymous):

This page has some formulae: http://www.eformulae.com/engineering/machines.php and this one seems a little better: http://www.roymech.co.uk/Useful_Tables/Mechanics/Machines.html

OpenStudy (smartbrain):

Thanks for the help.
