Find the Standard Deviation, mean, and variance of data points: 5,5,5,9,9,9

OpenStudy (anonymous):

mean= 6 variance= 4 standard deviation =2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well all you do is plug in formulas... you need the mean first which is just the average, then you find the variance, which is the difference of the mean and the number squared, and then the std dev is just that square root of the variance.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so mean= (5+5+5+9+9+9)/6

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so the mean = 7

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Great just making sure i was doing it correct. Thank you.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sorry mean = 7 rest all right

OpenStudy (anonymous):

then the variance is just the difference between the mean and each number squared (7-5)^2+(7-5)^2+(7-5)^2+(7-9)^2+(7-9)^2+(7-9)^2..... all divided by 6 lol, okay nevermind... you get if... :-)
