Consider the function f(x)=5-3x^2 on the interval [-2,3]. Find the average or mean slope of the function on this interval, i.e. f(3)-f(-2)/3-(-2) m=-3 By the Mean Value Theorem, we know there exists a 'c' in the open interval (-2,3) such that f'(c) is equal to this mean slope. For this problem, there is only one 'c' that works. Find it. I figured out the first part, I can't get the second. Please help?

I would assum that you set the first derivitive function to -3 and then solve for x.

So, -3=-6x now solve for x
