help

OpenStudy (ksaimouli):

Two arrows are fired horizontally with the same speed of30.0m/s. Each arrow has a mass of .100 kg. One is fired dueeast and the other due south. Find the magnitude anddirection fo the total momentum of this 2 arrow system. Specify thedirection with respect to due east.

OpenStudy (ksaimouli):

@ivanmlerner

OpenStudy (ksaimouli):

p=mv

OpenStudy (ksaimouli):

3kgm/s

OpenStudy (anonymous):

That is for each arrow, the total is 2 times this number.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What do you mean by find the direction with respect to due east?

OpenStudy (ksaimouli):

angle

OpenStudy (ksaimouli):

but the answer was 4.24kg m/s and 45 degree

OpenStudy (ksaimouli):

i dont know hoe they got that

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh, ok. What is your intuition about that? Remember that they have the same speed in perpendicular directions.

OpenStudy (ksaimouli):

actually i dont know much about this becasue my teacher will teach this tommorrow

OpenStudy (ksaimouli):

|dw:1352768807114:dw|

OpenStudy (ksaimouli):

u mean this one

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thats correct and the magnitude i said was correct is wrong sorry. Looking at that you can find the magnitude using the pythagorean theorem, and the direction is the vector sum of those two, so since they have the same magnitude the angle is 45°

OpenStudy (ksaimouli):

ok thx
