Did I solve these questions correctly? Here's the questions: http://s1324.beta.photobucket.com/user/Marcelia1/media/Mathsucks.png.html?sort=3&o=1 Here's my answers: 1( A=15ft P= 18ft 2( A=8m P=11m 3( A= 81in P= 27in 4( SA= 980yd V= 2260yd 5( SA= 190cm V= 126cm 6( SA= 726mm V= 1331mm A stands for area. P stands for Perimeter. SA stands for surface volume. V stands for volume. Just so there is no confusion :)
For 1) your perimeter looks good, but You want to double check the area
# 1 both look good
Ok thanks :) How's #2?
oh just a silly side note, but the units for area are square units. So A=15ft should be A=15ft^2 (to denote "square feet")
the area in #2 is incorrect
the perimeter in #2 is correct
3) area is incorrect the perimeter is correct only if you are rounding to the nearest integer
Ok how would I find the area for #2? I was'nt sure because I think its a pythagorean shape
The area of each triangle is A = (bh)/2 A = (3*2)/2 A = 3 Since there are 2 triangles, the triangles add to an area of 3+3 = 6 square meters The area of the inner rectangle is 0.5*3 = 1.5 So in total, the area of the composite figure is 6+1.5 = 7.5 square meters.
now that I think about it, if you round to the nearest integer, then you would get 8 square meters
Oh ok so rounded to the nearest tenth, I would be right?
7.5 rounded to the nearest tenth does not give you 8.0 or 8
