If 17.8 grams of KOH dissolve in enough water to make a 198-gram solution, what is the concentration in percent by mass? 8.25% KOH 8.99% KOH 10.9% KOH 11.1% KOH

OpenStudy (anonymous):

10.9% KOH

Water is a polar solvent. Which of the following will not dissolve in water? sugar table salt vinegar olive oil

OpenStudy (anonymous):

table salt

If 3.2 moles of NaCl are dissolved in enough water to make a 0.98-liter solution, what is the molarity of the solution? 0.31 M NaCl 0.77 M NaCl 1.3 M NaCl 3.3 M NaCl

OpenStudy (anonymous):

1.3 M NaCl

Why is the ionic compound NaCl (table salt) able to dissolve in a glass of the molecular compound water (H2O)? Both the solute and solvent contain ionic bonding, which makes them compatible. The solute and solvent react together to form a new compound. Ions from the solute have a strong attraction to the polar solvent molecules. It does not require much energy to break the covalent bonds in the water molecules.

you help me i give you metels.

Which of the following changes will increase the amount of solid solute able to be dissolved in a liter of liquid water? decreasing pressure increasing temperature decreasing temperature increasing surface area

OpenStudy (anonymous):

decreasing pressure

Describe, in your own words, why granulated sugar will dissolve faster in a cup of coffee than sugar cubes. Be specific in your explanation.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i have this question and and one more you help me ill add u on fb and give you metels

OpenStudy (anonymous):

DUE TO DESITY

OpenStudy (anonymous):

*DENSITY

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sugar cubes HAS less density so this happens

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@pumpgirls got it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I would take some of the answers you have so far with a pinch of salt. If you divide the mass of KOH by the mass of the solution you will get a different answer. As for the salt dissolving in the water, the correct answer is the fact that the ions are strongly bound by the polar molecules of water. And the sugar cubes have a lesser surface area per unit weight compared with granules of sugar.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok

OpenStudy (anonymous):

got what?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

One more thing - you can get more solute into solution by increasing the temperature of the solvent.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

soty 2013 you gave me rong answer !!! i got a zero out of 25 points

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yeah all of his answers were wrong... ebaxter was right! take soty's answer with a grain of NaCl (hehehe)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the second one was incorrect. Olive oil will not dissolve in water. Table salt and sugar will dissolve in water

OpenStudy (tywower):

the first one was wrong too
