How many 3 person groups can be formed in a club with 8 people?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

8 / 3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

2 groups with two people left over

OpenStudy (anonymous):

8C3 which = (8 x 7 x 6) / (3 x 2 x 1)

The reasoning behind this is that any of the 8 can be chosen first, leaving 7. Choose another. Leaving 6. 8 x 7 x 6, but you don't care about the "order" so, each group is divided by 3 x 2 x 1

I see. This would satisfy "How many different" groups can be formed by a 8 person club. The question is a little vague there.
