OpenStudy (ksaimouli):

A 5.00-kg ball, moving to the right at a velocity of +2.00 m/s on a frictionless table, collides head-on with a stationary 7.50kg ball. find the final velocities of the ball if the collision is elastic

OpenStudy (ksaimouli):

@Callisto

OpenStudy (ksaimouli):

10 = 5v[1] + 7.55v[2] ......... (1)

OpenStudy (ksaimouli):

20 = 5v[1]^2 + 7.55v[2]^2 ........(2)

OpenStudy (ksaimouli):

now how do u solve

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A good formula worth remembering is VA'=(M-m)/(M+m)* 2.00m/s. Hope this helps

OpenStudy (ksaimouli):

but i want solve tahat

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Then you plug the VA' into the momentum equation to find VB'. The Formula that you will use to plug in VA' is = MAVA+MBVB=MAVA'+MBVB'.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Use the first formula I gave you to find the puck A velocity after the collision, and once you find the velocity of puck A just plug it back into the conservation of momentum formula and you will find ur answer. By the way m=5.00 and M=7.50

OpenStudy (ksaimouli):

yes ! but i dont get though|dw:1353210973463:dw|
