For the new compound ICl2F+2: Calculate the maximum wavelength of electromagnetic radiation that is capable of breaking the weakest bond. Express your answer in meters. Bond energies (kJ/mol) are: I-I (150) F-F (160) Cl-Cl (240)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I would first calculate the weakest bond energy and then by using E=hv find the frequency. Then you can find wavelength with c=wavelengthxfrequency

OpenStudy (anonymous):

They are all covalent bonds, so You must calculate the energy bond, then choose the weakest.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I-F is the weakest bond

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Why is I-F the weakest? I thought it was I-Cl and tried to solve like gursu...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well.....why don't you find all the energies and then deside wich bond is the weakest!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you can find it for each of the bond . . and u will come to know that its I-F bond
