A plastic sun visor allows light to pass through but reduces the light’s intensity. The light intensity is reduced by 5% if the plastic is 1 mm thick. Each additional millimetre of thickness reduces the light intensity by another 5%. using the equation \[I _{f}=I_{o}(0.95)^t\] how thick is a piece of plastic that reduces the intensity of light by 60% ?

~10 sheets.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@rsnoob how did you get that?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Make an equation, such as \[I=0.95^s \] where S is the number of Sheets and I is intensity.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so would it become .60=0.95^x then?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If you plug in 10, you should get about 60.

thanks a lot! :)
