How would this be simplified?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[\frac{ 4 }{3y }-\frac{ 5 }{ y^2 }\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i know the denominator is 3y^2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how would i do the top?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Multiply the left fraction by y on top and bottom and the right fraction 3 on top and bottom.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so i would cross multiply?

OpenStudy (goten77):

1st cross multiply |dw:1354398135269:dw| the bottom is cubed 1st then factor a y on the top |dw:1354398195506:dw| then becomes |dw:1354398280631:dw| so yes end result is squared on bottom
