Please help:) In an HCl molecule, we assume Cl to be of very heavy mass and H alone oscillating. If the oscillation of the HCl molecule shows a frequency of 9.1949*10^13 Hz, deduce the force constant. given:Avogadro constant=6*10^26 per Kgmol.

isnt this chemistry?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ur on the physics section xD

OpenStudy (ajprincess):

ya I am on physics sec cos this question comes under shm @lilfayfay

OpenStudy (ajprincess):

@mahmit2012 please help me:)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i dont know chem!

OpenStudy (ajprincess):

this come under physics. simple harmonic motion.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ohh it looked like chem lol xD

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lol I'm curious. The force constant is that of G?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[\omega = \sqrt{\frac{k}{\mu}}\] where k is the force constant and mu is the reduced mass. You're essentially told to approximate the reduced mass as the mass of the H atom alone, because it's about 35x lighter than the Cl atom.

Thanx a lot:)
