Find the volume of each layer: (1 m)(1 m)(50 cm) (1 m)(1 m)(100 cm) (1 m)(1 m)(100 cm) Remember to convert all units to cm to get the volumes in cm^3. Then multiply each volume by its density to get a mass, and then add all masses together.

it's the same as g/cm^3 or gram per cubic centimeter
When you multiply gcm^-3 by cm^3 you get g, so if you multiply the density of each layer of snow in gcm^-3 by its volume in cm^3 you'll get the mass of that layer.
