what do they mean by activity? nothing would happen because Au is not reactive (too stable, and highly difficult to oxidize)

yep 4 is redox, 1 I'm not sure, as i don't know what they mean by "activity", I've never seen that used in that fashion

for 1 i can't answer, because I've never heard of this "activity", there is a term activity but its not used in this context

yep i mean i would say it's both, but you don't always form a gas in a double displacement, but you don't always double displace in a decomposition... :S
