Well How Many Valence Electrons Does That Have?

OpenStudy (aaronq):

yep, add up the number of valence electrons of all the atoms involved. Attach them to the central atom via a 2 electron bond and distribute the rest. ps. the central atom in this molecule breaks the octet "rule", and so it is hypervalent.
