A 200W lamp is totally immersed in 1500gm of water. How much will the temperature of the water rise in 3mins?Neglect heat losses from the water

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what is the initial temperature of the water?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The amount of heat energy supplied to the water is the number of watts multiplied by the number of seconds, divide this by the mass of the water and the specific heat capacity of water (4.1855Jper gram of water per degree in Kelvin). I can check back if you like, or there's a good description here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Specific_heat_capacity#Extensive_and_intensive_quantities
