If you throw a ball upwards from a building at x velocity, when it's coming back down and is at a point that it has the same height as it did initially; is the v the same? I don't know i'm having conceptual problems; here's a question i had a problem with: Ball A is thrown vertically upward with a speed of 19.6 m/s from the top edge of a high building. As it passes the edge on the way down, a second ball, B, is thrown downward at 19.6 m/s. Which of the following is correct? Ball A hits the ground before B. The two balls hit the ground at the same time. Ball B hits the ground before A.
When you through a ball up it follows a parabolic curve. So for the first one the magnitude of v will be the same as when you first threw it. The only difference is that the velocity is now negative. The balls will hit at the same time
does that make sense?
3rd option is correct, beacause ball A should have to cover two paths, one is upward and the second is downward so A ball reaches next to ball B
