remember how √x is really \(x^{1/2}\)

so both terms in the integrand can be rewritten as simple powers of \(x\) and you can apply the familiar rule , of adding one to the index and dividing by the new index

and dont forget to add an arbitrary constant of integration

um, dont do use substitution for this problem

the only substitution you need to make is substituting the root signs for their exponential equivalents, just as UnkleRhaukus stated.
