The concentration of an aqueous solution of iron(II) chloride is 0.0550 M. What is the molarity of each ion in this solution?

OpenStudy (aaronq):

write the formula down Fe(II) signifies that Iron is in an oxidation state of 2... so Fe2+ add as many chlorines as you need knowing that Cl is in the 7th group and so it is -1 Fe+2 Cl-1 -> Fe(II)Chlorine = FeCl2 FeCl2 dissociates in to -> Fe2+ + 2Cl- so if the solution is X M, then [Fe2+]= X M and [Cl-] = 2X M
