4. A piece of solid magnesium metal with a mass of 1.215 g was placed in a beaker. Magnesium reacts with zinc according to the following equation: Mg (s) + 2 HCl (aq) → MgCl2 (aq) + 2 H+ (aq) What volume of 0.10 M HCl must be added to the beaker to completely dissolve the magnesium?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Convert 1.215 g of Mg to moles using the periodic table. It's a 1:2 ratio between Mg(s) and HCl (aq), so you'll need twice as many moles of HCl as Mg. Then you have moles of HCl and you have concentration. Volume = Moles / Concentration
