It is more energetically stable for a system to have a constant temperature, which has to do with entropy (the measure of disorder). Temperature is kinetic movement of matter, i.e. higher temperature means faster movement of particles. When your warm foot touches the cold floor the molecules in your feet will hit the slower moving molecules of the floor and result in the slower molecules moving more, this will result in heat transferred from your body into the floor, as the universe always attempts to maximize disorder and obtain a thermal equilibrium. |dw:1356304745941:dw|
