How many people were in the group that started the rumor? b. How many people have heard the rumor after 1 day? After 5 days? c. How long will it be until 1,000 of the people in the town have heard the rumor?

@satellite73 could you possibly help me with this one as well?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i should make a template for this, because it is maybe the 8th time i have seen this exact same question they really stretch for these word problems, don't they ? what book does it come from ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

they do, i'm not sure its from a test study guide

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i will help, but i am almost certain you can do this first one replace \(t\) by \(0\) and get \[\frac{10,000}{5+1245}\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

second one, find \(N(1)\) and \(N(5)\) by replacing \(t\) by \(1\) and \(5\) respectively, use a calculator

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so the answer to a is 8?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

only the third one requires real work

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah, 8

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what would i do for b?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

replace \(t\) by \(1\)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

then replace \(t\) by \(5\) you need a calculator

OpenStudy (anonymous):

in what equation?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@satellite73

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is this correct? 2009.7463 @satellite73
