the volume of a cube is 50 cubic inches Julie is going to increase the length, width, and height by a scale factor of 4. What will be the volume of the cube she creates?
Multipy all sides by 4
i just dont get this crap
Because its cubic inches it will increase the volume by 64x i think...
So think about it like this
if its a square and its s scale factor of 2 its twice as muich as one so the sides arfe all twice as big
if its square inches its not only twice as big area but 4x because 2^2 =4
If its cubic inches its not 2 but 8 because 2^3=8. See now?
1 is the normal figure. if the scale is 2 then its twice as big as 1.
so the object is twice as big etc.
um not really still ;( so how they got 4 was 2^2? so how do i get the answer though lol sorrry
The normal scale increases by 2 but because your working in in^2 or inches SQUARED you also square the factor you increase by.
so 50 ^2?
lolno
OMG lol
Your base number is 1 ok? your scale is 4 4 is 1*4 so all the sides of your figure are x4 as big but because your working in cubic units you want to make a shortcut and cube the 4 then multiply that number *50
so 4 cubed is ??
2864
no 64
yep.
ok now what
now multiply by your volume.
so is it 50 ^3
i need help like what does 50 multiply by?
so is the answer 3200?
yep!
Congrats now you knwo hwo to do these problems!
ya thanks im getting it alittle bit now ur a huge help!
