What are all of the irregular electron configurations?
Excluding the inner transition elements, many of which are weird: Cr,Cu,Nb,Mo,Ru,Rh,Pd,Ag,Pt and Au.
Do you know how these could be done?
Like how we can find their electronic configration ?
Yep.. does it have to be memorized, or can you tell by looking at the chart?
Yes we have to learn them up but they are tricks to learn them :) Gimme a min lemme draw and show you how to learn :D brb
Ok, thanks
I am really sorry but it is hard to show here. Come on twiddla.
Im on it right now
1s 2s 2p 3s 3p 3d 3f 4s 4p 4d 4f 5s 5p 5d 5f 6s 6p 6d 6f We actually write them up like this and make lines
They can all be rationalized by the unusual stability of a half- or completely-filled d subshell. That results in a predictable transfer of an s electron to the d subshell to make a half- or completely-filled subshell one element early for Cr, Cu, Mo, Ag and Au. The others (Nb,Ru,Rh,Pd,Pt) are just freaks, and you just have to remember them. W is also strange in *not* being strange. Like Cr and Mo, you'd *think* it would be d5,s1 but it's d4,s2. So W is also a freak.
