now carefully mark the points on the thread i.e.from where you started to where you ended. Measure that distance on a scale.

π is technically a number not equal to 3.14, although it is very close. π is a ratio of a circle's circumference to it's diameter: C=D(π) If we solve for π, we can clearly see that π=C/D. Take the circumference of anything, circular nature, and divide it by the diameter of the object. You'll be faced with a number that is very close to π. Why does this happen? Well, it's a natural phenomena, like e... it has certain special properties that only happen with this number. One of the most special things about the equation y=e^x, if you were to take the slope, it's e^x. Besides y=0, it is one of the few easily accessible functions that are their own slope. π has been calculated to about 1.24 trillion digits so far, still, although it is a better approximation than 3.14, it is still not the actual value of π. The actual value of π is... π. If you ever use π in mathematics, never use a stupid approximation of 3.14, use the actual value: π, 3π is much better than 9.4248.
