pie = 3.14 how?
can u prove it??
it is the mathematical value of pi
take a bangle/ring/disk etc |dw:1358077984104:dw|
take a thread |dw:1358078004030:dw|
|dw:1358077975119:dw|
no more ways to 3.14
now start wrapping the thread onto the bangle, start from a point, say A, wrap the thread onto the bangle tightly and reach back to A |dw:1358078070205:dw|
so?
now carefully mark the points on the thread i.e.from where you started to where you ended. Measure that distance on a scale.
That will give you the circumference of the circle.
You should be able to approximately figure out the center and hence the radius of the circle.
π is technically a number not equal to 3.14, although it is very close. π is a ratio of a circle's circumference to it's diameter: C=D(π) If we solve for π, we can clearly see that π=C/D. Take the circumference of anything, circular nature, and divide it by the diameter of the object. You'll be faced with a number that is very close to π. Why does this happen? Well, it's a natural phenomena, like e... it has certain special properties that only happen with this number. One of the most special things about the equation y=e^x, if you were to take the slope, it's e^x. Besides y=0, it is one of the few easily accessible functions that are their own slope. π has been calculated to about 1.24 trillion digits so far, still, although it is a better approximation than 3.14, it is still not the actual value of π. The actual value of π is... π. If you ever use π in mathematics, never use a stupid approximation of 3.14, use the actual value: π, 3π is much better than 9.4248.
Use this : circumference = 2 * pi * radius and solve for pi best of luck.
it will be 3.14 right.... so can we take it like 22/7 ?
You can use buffon's needle to prove it,I guess. Let me link you to the intersting dicussion we had.
22/7 is just a very bad rational approximation of pi.
a?
its easier than 3.14 isn't it?
@shubhamsrg Can you link the person to the pi discussion we had.
By definition,\[\pi = \dfrac{\rm C}{d}\]
FOR ALL CIRCLES.
I don't actually remember if we had any discussion earlier! :P sorry..
but it will be 22/7
Also,\[\pi \ne 3.14\]
isn't it??
\[\pi\approx 3.14\]
no it is hard...
can i know everybody from which country?
